Completed projects
1. Contracted by the Polytechnic of Namibia to undertake a Horticulture industry stakeholder analysis as a basis for the development of a curiculum for a Horticulture Degree (BSc, MSc.) programme at the Polytechnic. The Horticulture industry stakeholders were consulted for their input, which was used to:
- Determine the industry specific current skills needs for horticulture professionals
- Develop a curriculum for the Horticulture degree (BSc, MSc.) programme.
- Determine the research focus of the programme
Result: Curriculum drafted, final reports submitted.
2. Write a research proposal for WRaDAC and the Leibniz-Institut für Pflanzengenetik und Kulturpflanzenforschung (IPK) for submision to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Bonn (Germany).
Title: Effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on drought stress tolerance of barley
Result: Proposal written, submitted and approved for funding
3. Assist the Namibian Farmers Union to draft a project proposal for submission to the European commission in Windhoek.
Title: "Effectiveness of communal agricultural shows to communal farmer's livelihood, woman participation and improve genetic material"
Result: Project proposal drafted and submitted.
4. Assist the Directorate of Forestry to draft a project proposal for submission to the Millennium Challenge Account-Namibia (MCA-N).
Title: "Securing the supply of high quality indigenous natural products by improving the quality of indigenous plants produced in Government nurseries.
Result: Project proposal drafted and submitted.
5. Assist Ms. Sinah Modirwa with statistical analysis for her MSc research work using Mann-Whitney test statistics.
Titel: Comparing the effect of gender, house hold size and other sources of income on the on-farm income of rural farmers. Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, North West University, South Africa.
Result: Analysis done, research manuscript submitted.
6. Statistical analysis of research data for a study done by Cold Chain Solution consulting company (South Africa).
Title: Effect of ozone treatment on postharvest quality of Avocado (Fuerte and Hess cultivars)
Results: Analysis completed, report submited to client.
